I regret to inform you and his fellow crew members that my father passed away from cancer on January 25, 2001. Fortunately, he did not suffer greatly. His family was with him by his bedside, providing support, until his death. He was quite proud of his Navy service to his country and spoke favorably of his time aboard the U.S.S Hilbert. My father enjoyed the ship's newsletter. I would like to thank the shipmates who helped to make my father's time aboard the U.S.S. Hilbert a positive experience.
Yours truly,
Richard Sweet
Son of Forrest Hamilton Sweet
